Aidan’s Big Adventure Part IX: The Last Few Days in Auckland...

As Auntie Heather's wedding gets closer more and more people have started to arrive. I've met so many new people in the last couple of days - some are going to be bridesmaids, others groomsmen, and some of the others are friends and family here for the wedding, including my Great-Auntie Judy who has just arrived from Adelaide, Australia.

At lunchtime on Thursday, Grandpa Norman and Grandma Tony looked after me while Mummy and Daddy went out for lunch with Jo Tilton, a good friend of Daddy's from church and university. They had a picnic at Mount Wellington, which sounded lots of fun. Mount Wellington is one of 50 volcanic cones in the Auckland region, and is the one closest to Grandpa Norman and Grandma Tony's house.

In the afternoon Mummy, Daddy and me went swimming to a wonderful toddlers' swimming pool with lots of water features, including fountains and a spa-pool. I really enjoyed working on my swimming technique again.

On Friday morning, both Mummy and Daddy got their hair cut, all ready for the wedding. Then we did some last minute shopping and had lunch at a sushi place - Mummy is allergic to fish so was pleasantly surprised to find teriyaki chicken and avocado sushi on the menu! She tells me it was very yummy and would love to have some again sometime!

Daddy was going to cook dinner for all the family (including my family from Wanganui) on Friday evening, so we went to a fantastic Chinese supermarket (The Silver Bell) to buy the ingredients. Everything was so fresh: so many different vegetables to choose from, some delicious cuts of meat, and sauces from Japan through to Mongolia! Mummy and Daddy had great fun selecting what they wanted to cook with!

Saturday was Auntie Heather and Uncle Martin's wedding day, and I got to wear my kilt again! Auntie Heather isn't very well just now, so she was carried 'in state' into the church on a fabulous golden litter! All the preparations had been worthwhile - it was a lovely day and Auntie Heather and Uncle Martin looked so happy :-).
