Aidan’s Gallery: thirteen and a half months old

Aidan is thirteen and a half months old, and has had such an exciting few weeks that he wanted to tell you all about it.

First of all, on the weekend of the 7th of August, Aidan went with Mummy and Daddy to Leeds to visit some friends. He had a great time, especially showing off his new walking skills.

The following weekend we took Aidan to London for the day. We went on the London Eye, visited the Science Museum (which has some wonderful interactive facilities for children - Aidan had a great time, even if he's a little on the young side at present), and had a walk through Hyde Park, before meeting up with a friend of Daddy's. The next day, we went to Farnborough to visit some other friends and had lots of fun.

Then, there was the First Birthday Bash - Carolyn came across a website back in October 2002 when she was just a few weeks pregnant. She joined the July 2003 board, and has made a lot of friends whose children were also born then. We organised the first big get-together of that board here in Cambridge to celebrate the First Birthday of all the children. Families came from all over the England (and even as far away as Norway!) and we had a fantastic party on Saturday 21st August.

Aidan has enjoyed all the social activities of recent weeks, meeting lots of new people, especially the other toddlers at the party. He's been practising his walking lots and has rapidly gained in confidence - we're still getting used to seeing him toddling about the house instead of crawling. He's also learning how to put the plug into the bath, after most of the water has drained away, and really enjoys having a shower now (he especially loves being allowed to play with the shower head!). Aidan is starting to recognise colours - he managed to take Carolyn's finger and press the correct coloured key on his piano (red, blue or green) when asked to. He's also learned the crayons are for colouring, and not just for eating, and has drawn his first picture (now adorning the fridge door with magnets, as is traditional!).

Look! I can climb! Showing off my new climbing skills in front of the London Eye. I also had a lot of fun crawling around (if this shows up small, try clicking on the image to make it bigger, and use the scroll bar at the bottom of the screen to move along).
On the London Eye. Aidan visited London for the first time on the weekend of the 14th August. He loved his flight on the London Eye, and spent the time crawling around the pod, pressing his face to the glass and looking down, pulling himself up on people's legs, and generally exploring. On the London Eye.

Drawing my first masterpiece. Aidan has learned now that crayons aren't only for eating.
My very own swing. Aidan used some of his birthday money to buy this lovely swing - it's now out in the back garden. My very own swing.

The First Birthday Bash! Lots of babies born in July 2003 (or thereabouts) met up in Cambridge to celebrate. It was such fun!
After the party is over... you have to take everything back in the car! After the party is over...
