Aidan’s Gallery: twenty-eight weeks old

Aidan celebrated his six month birthday (26 weeks + 2 days) on Wednesday 7th January 2004.

Aidan has been finding his feet (literally!) and discovering what they're actually for: standing. We think this was helped by the time he spent in the door bouncer over Christmas. He loves playing with his toes during nappy-free time, and he's very pleased with himself for standing with only the sofa or us for support. Aidan is also closer than ever to crawling - see below!

After starting Aidan on "solid" food over Christmas (puréed apple and baby rice), he's now enjoying apple, pear, peach, sweet potato, carrot, squash, parsnip, baby rice, and porridge. He's eating more healthily than us!! (it's a good encouragement to us).

Aidan has had to cope with a lot of changes in the last few weeks. We've been taking him to baby yoga (exercises and nursery rhymes) and swimming class. Carolyn went back to work on Tue 6th for two days per week (2.5 days from March); Keith looked after him for the first week, and his grandparents for the second. From next week he will be with a childminder one day, and Keith the other. Keith has enjoyed spending the extra time with Aidan very much, but it's been a learning experience for both of them(!). Another major change was on Saturday (17th) when we moved him into his own room, with a new cot. He has taken all these things in his stride, but is certainly more tired than usual.

...hang on, maybe they're actually for this instead?

(PS: OK, I might be resting just a little against the sofa, perhaps, but what's that between friends?)

My first highchair! Mummy and Daddy fed me in my bouncer over Christmas, but I couldn't sit still enough in it, so they got me a proper highchair instead. Unfortunately I can't bounce in it, but I can see what's going on much better. My first highchair.

Nearly there - I can now lift my whole body off the ground, but mostly I leave my head on the floor. It's more comfortable, but something seems to be stopping me from moving forward... any ideas?
Asleep in my new cot for the very first time. Mummy and Daddy moved me into my very own cot in my own room on Saturday 17th, after letting me have my naps in it for a few days before that. I love it, but I keep throwing my dummy through the bars, so I put my arm through to try and get it, and then I get stuck and Mummy has to come and rescue me :-(. Asleep in my new cot.
