Aidan is two years and ten months old. A highlight of this month was the trip with Grandma to the Singing Kettle, a children's musical variety show. He loved the singing, and was very well behaved. Ever since he's been asking to see the DVD over and over again!
He's enjoyed playing at Callendar Park and Polkemmet - including the flying fox and rope bridge! He gets on well with the bigger kids there. He is learning to be more manipulative though: when Carolyn told him he could have one more slide and then it was time to go, he proceeded to climb up and down to the big slide and not come off because he knew when he did we would be leaving!
Playing at home he has a very good imagination, and makes up his own games. He sits in his playhouse using his toolbox and the bottom rung of the ladder as table and chair, cooking himself sausages and steak on his "barbeque". He's very curious about everything, asking "what's that?" or "what's that [X] called?" about the Sky dish, the various pipes outside the house, wires, a freezer shelf door, etc. His concentration is better too. He is able to report clearly on what happened earlier that day or yesterday (e.g., "Rachel was at playgroup this morning, and she did [X]"). But he doesn't have a good grasp of time (in fact, it was yesterday morning).
On the 26th, Aidan decided he wanted to go for a walk to the "lawnmower shop", which is an imaginary shop he's made up, so Carolyn dropped me (Keith), Aidan and the lawnmower (his little plastic golf club caddy) just after the roundabout at the entrance to the estate. We went for a long walk (about an hour for a 15min walk) looking for it, with Aidan explaining which way to go, and had a great time: Aidan inspected all the houses for overflows as we went around, we looked at flower buds and at Polmont Burn, and made a critical pit-stop. We didn't find the shop, though.
We finally managed to get Aidan to have his hair cut this month (on the 13th). He took some convincing from Keith, but then he sat until about 2/3 of his hair was cut - at which point he went hysterical again, and had to be held down while the remaining third was quickly trimmed. The result is OK, but I wish he would be a bit more sensible about it!

On the swings at Beecraigs. Mummy was teaching me how to swing properly - it was great fun. |
