Aidan is now 27 months old! The last month has been one of the most exciting and different months of his life to date, and he has had lots of new things to cope with.
We moved out of our old house on Wednesday 7th of September, and left that evening to drive to Great-Auntie Jeanne and Great-Uncle Jeff's house (which is about halfway between our old house and our new one!). On the Thursday, they took us to one of the most wonderful playgrounds he has ever visited (Daddy and cousin Philip enjoyed it almost more than Aidan did!). That afternoon we then drove on to Grandma and Grandpa's house, which is about 15 mins away from our new house, and where we planned to stay for a few days while we got the new house unpacked and sorted...
We got the keys to the new house on Friday 9th September, and Pickfords came and unloaded our stuff that afternoon. Auntie Elaine came down to look after Aidan for a few days as he wasn't very interested in helping us to unpack! We stayed at Grandma and Grandpa's house for a couple of weeks while we took the opportunity to redecorate!
We eventually moved into our new house on Tuesday 27th September, The delay getting in to the house was well worth it - and we shall be eternally grateful to Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Jonathan (who provided lots of babysitting) for all their hard work in helping us make our new house feel more like our home.
Aidan has adjusted very well throughout all the upheaval, and has loved all the extra attention he has received being much closer to some of his family. His eating was quite erratic for a while (he usually stops eating when new things are happening), but this has settled down and he's eating much better again.
He has started in a new class at Tumbletots, and has really been enjoying it. He's in the 2-3 year old class now, which is far more structured than his previous class (walking - 2 years). It took him a bit of time to get used to it, but he's getting the hang of it now, especially as there are other older children for him to copy.
Aidan also managed to really impress us with his recognition skills this month! He went with Mummy for her first visit with the new midwife. Obviously this was a new place and a new person, so the context was completely different. But he still recognised that it was a midwife appointment, and what should happen at these appointments is that the midwife will listen to Mummy's tummy with the doppler (to listen for baby's heartbeat), so he started asking for the "noise" when we were there, and was very happy when the midwife did as he asked!
He is showing lots of signs of interest in his new baby brother or sister now too, frequently referring to the baby and giving Mummy's bump a big kiss and cuddle.
We've really noticed that his speech has continued to improve - he's using longer words ("supermarket") and sentences; can be descriptive; will usefully answer questions about what he has been doing; and will often do as he is asked ("please bring this to me", "go and take your shoes off" etc).
With his new house, and new bedroom, also came a new grown-up bed - his "Thomas bed". He is very into Thomas the Tank Engine, and his new bed has this bedding on it, which he loves. For the first couple of days, he slept in it for his afternoon nap, but insisted on sleeping in his cot at night. Now, he sleeps in it at night too and hasn't (yet!) shown any interest in wanting to go back to his cot. He's very good though, and will wait until someone goes in to get him, before he gets up in the mornings. Long may this last!

Playing in Newton Aycliffe. Great-Auntie Jeanne and Great-Uncle Jeff took us to a fantastic playground, and Aidan enjoyed this tilted wheel. |

The digger. One of Aidan's favourite occupations is watching this digger over the back fence. |
