Aidan is now two and a half years old! It's been a busy month with Christmas, New Year and all the ensuing celebrations.
Aidan is full of energy and loves to run and play. At Tumbletots, he is trying very hard to learn how to do a proper forward roll - he just hasn't quite worked out that he needs to propel himself forward with his legs, at the same time as bending his head under. He also really enjoys Space Bugs, especially if his Uncle Jonathan takes him! He's been up to the play area at Beecraigs Country Park several times and has been brave enough to go on the flying fox all on his own, and has even climbed round the rope climbing frame (with a little assistance from Mummy and Daddy).
Aidan has been enjoying going to the toddler group run by our church - running around, playing games, and especially enjoying the toy kitchen. He is starting to get to know some of the other children now too.
He has been into Edinburgh a couple of times to go Christmas shopping, and he was enthralled by all the lights, decorations, people and festive atmosphere. He had lots of fun on the train trips. He also went with Daddy to buy the Christmas tree. Another fun trip for Aidan was when he went to Loch Lomond with Grandma, Mummy and Megan, to have lunch with "Auntie" Marjory - a school friend of Grandma's. Aidan loved running along the shores of the loch and along the pier.
It was Aidan's third Christmas this month and he had a fantastic time, especially enjoying seeing his Uncle Chris and Auntie Elaine do a puppet show in church on Christmas Day. He received had a great time seeing lots of his family, and received lots of lovely presents. His favourite presents include his "music" (a CD player), a toy iron and kettle, a kitchen, and some new books.
The Christmas period really disrupted Aidan's sleeping routine, which has resulted in one very tired boy on occasion. We're slowly getting him back on track now, but it's a long slow process (especially as he gets distracted by Megan's bathtime!). Toilet training has continued to go well, despite all the disruption. He rarely has accidents during the daytime now, is usually dry after his nap, and is even starting to be dry occasionally at night now too.
We've noticed a real improvement in his concentration recently - he even played an entire game of "Puff the Pop-Up Dragon" with Daddy. It is also possible to reason with Aidan now, which is very new.
Christmas/New Year also gave Aidan the opportunity to meet with some friends, old and new. His godparents brought their two little girls to visit and the three kids had a great time playing together. Aidan brought in the New Year at home, but slept through the whole experience, despite all the fireworks which went off after the bells! We went to friends on New Year's Day for dinner and, despite the late night and all the new people, Aidan had a lovely time playing with the other children and he was a very good boy!
