Aidan’s Gallery: three years two months old

The biggest event of the month was Aidan and Megan's christening. It was a really special day: lovely service, lovely to catch up with the godparents (who now live too far away to see very often), and a lovely party afterwards with so many of our friends - thank you all! Alex Aitken preached a great sermon and did the christening. Both kids behaved really well, although Aidan was a bit worried about having wet hair! (See Megan's version.)

Aidan is now old enough to go to Sunday School (not créche); he's not really been enjoying the loud and unstructured holiday Sunday School, but now term has started and it's more structured he is beginning to get involved - he's even proudly bringing home things he's coloured in and stuck. He's also moved up a class in Tumbletots, and now Mummy sits in the next room with the other mums rather than being in with him. He's apparently doing very well, and seems happy after being a little apprehensive at first.

There have been a few parties this month - Grandma's 60th, Samara's 3rd, and a sad farewell to our friends Josh and Mel and their children Natalie, Samara, and Jordan. He's also been on a few outings: he enjoyed Blair Drummond Safari Park, and a Thomas the Tank Engine Day at Bo'ness Steam Railway - Aidan enjoyed the carousel, as well as the trains. Another hit was pedal-boating on the lake in Callendar Park, followed by afternoon tea in the mall - definitely a great Falkirk day out.

The kids didn't miss out on the Edinburgh Festival. We met up in Edinburgh after work, and enjoyed walking with them getting a feel for the Festival (despite the rain!). Another day, we took Aidan to see The Gruffalo's Child at the Assembly Rooms. It was a great performance - we really enjoyed it, although Aidan found it a bit overwhelming at times. He sat on my knee cuddling in at the beginning, but was sitting up watching towards the end. The Gruffalo himself was quite scary, but the animals were great - the Snake was particularly good.

Aidan has started to tell jokes! "Why did the chicken cross the road?" "To get to the other side". We had an hilarious conversation that went something like this:

Aidan:
"why did the chicken cross the road?";
Mummy:
"to get to the other side!"'
Aidan:
"why did the chicken want to get to the other side?";
Mummy:
"because he wanted to cross the road!";
Aidan:
"why did the chicken cross the road?"...
and so on. This circular argument went on and on and on. It was very funny (if you were there!).
