Aidan is now three years and five months old. As usual it's been a very busy month. One of Aidan's favourite questions is "is someone coming for lunch today?", so we've had Stacey and Becca, Linzi and Adam, Alison, and Morag and Iona to lunch this month. We've also had lunch at the Golf Club on several occasions, much to his delight!
As well as going to playgroup four sessions a week, Aidan also regularly goes to Pre-5's (the toddler group at church - a large hall, with lots of play equipment and plenty of space to run around), Tumbletots (a gym class for little ones, which aims to instill confidence and skill at climbing and balancing - we highly recommend this class), Sunday School and Space Bugs (soft play area in the local leisure centre).
We've also been to the park at the end of the street a few times, and it's really good to see Aidan beginning to interact well with the other children and to enjoy playing with them, instead of trying to get them to play his games. He also loves going out for walks with Daddy - all the more fun if it's dark or wet! On one such occasion, they came across some purple pipes laid by the road (evidently for a new pedestrian crossing) and had great fun shouting "hello" to each other through the pipes.
Aidan loved our trip down south, when we visited Lorna and Andrew in Cumbria and Sheila, Jason and the twins in Cheadle Hulme. While in the Lake District, we visited Whitehaven, and Aidan got to go on a little merry-go-round which was hand-turned. He thought it was fantastic! We also visited Rheged, near Penrith, while we were in the area - Aidan loved the soft play area, but was a bit less impressed by the "Discovering Cumbria" audio-visual show (about how Cumbria was first settle by the Celts) than Mummy and Daddy were! (we thought it was extremely good).
Other fun visits this month included a trip to the Glasgow Science Centre (especially the giant connect four, the giant rolling ball clock, and the roundabout), the Linlithgow Advent Fair and switching on of the Christmas Lights, the Falkirk Model Railway Club exhibition, and a trip to the theatre to see The Singing Kettle's Winter Wonderland.
Aidan is still a very focussed little boy, perfectly content to spend hours at a time constructing and creating all sorts of things, but we are also very happy to see him start to become much more aware of other children and to want to become more involved with what they are doing. He's showing much more interest in crafts, especially painting, drawing, and colouring in. He also sat very happily with Catherine and Emily and made a lovely butterfly with sticky shapes on it. It's good to see him enjoying these sorts of activities, and to have similar reports from his playgroup, Sunday School and Tumbletots leaders, as well as playing on his own.

Is this a hat? or a photo avoidance strategy? |
