Aidan is now three and three-quarter years old! This month was marked by lots of trips to various parks, meals with family and friends, and Aidan's first operation. Along with all his everyday pursuits (playgroup, Sunday School, Pre-5's and Tumbletots), Aidan has enjoyed going to various local parks, with various different people (Mummy, Daddy, Grandma, and Jill).
We've had lots of fun baking this month - chocolate chip cookies (which Aidan loves), banana cake (which Aidan loved making, but wouldn't eat!), banana and choc chip muffins (which Aidan refused to eat), shortbread stars (yum!) and, of course, fairy cakes (which Aidan could eat until the cows come home!).
It's been lovely spending time with friends, either at home or visiting them, especially Rachel, Jill, Heather with Jack and Euan, Diane with Joshua and Andrew, and Ali with Ruaridh and Fionleagh. We also spent a great day with Steve, Varya, Benjamin and Toby through in Paisley.
Aidan is loving playing with Daddy's Marble Run, and making it as high as he possibly can. Jill and Mummy took Aidan swimming one day, which is the first time in ages that Aidan has been - although a bit apprehensive just at first, he rapidly got used to it, and had a great time splashing around and playing with another little boy also called Aidan.
We had a lovely trip to Inverness to see Auntie Elaine and Uncle Chris, including a fun trip to Abriachan Forest, which had a wonderful big playhouse on stilts, complete with trapdoor and secret passage. The trip south was pretty scary because it started snowing, so it took a lot longer than normal driving south. It was lovely to see Auntie Jeanne, Uncle Jeff and Jill at our usual Sunday meal.
After seven ear drum perforations (five in the left and two in the right) over the last three months, we managed to get a private referral for Aidan to see an ENT consultant - with a trip to New Zealand rapidly approaching, we were very concerned about the impact of the flights on his ears. On March 19th, he saw the consultant who diagnosed glue ear, and acute otitis media. After much discussion, we decided that Aidan should have grommets inserted.
This operation was performed on March 29th, under general anaesthetic. Aidan was such a good boy that day, despite the slightly overwhelming circumstances he tried very hard to remain calm, and do to as he was told. He recovered very rapidly from the operation, and was discharged a mere couple of hours later. We were very proud of him. Since then, for the first time in months, his ears no longer hurt and he is noticeably happier than he has been for a long time.
