Aidan is four years and ten months old. Aidan had his first ever playdate on his own this month, when he went over to play with a little friend of his from nursery who lives across the road. He really enjoyed it, although was completely shattered by the end!
Now that Megan is at playgroup, Aidan has been enjoying having some special Mummy and Aidan time and we've been making the most of those days with trips out and doing fun things together.
On the downside, Aidan's scheduled grommets operation had to be delayed yet again by two more weeks, as his right eardrum perforated again two days before the op was due to be performed. This meant that we had to wait another couple of weeks for the eardrum to heal sufficiently. Aidan really has had such a rough time of it over the last few months in this respect.
Aidan has been enjoying his swimming lessons now that they have recommenced after a break of a couple of months (thanks to a broken boiler at the school swimming pool). He also loves going out on his bike and does so at any opportunity.
We've had lots of visitors this month too - Stacey, Alan, Becca and Sarah came to stay, and Abi, Justyn, Kitty and Noah joined us for lunch. We saw Auntie Elaine and Uncle Chris a couple of times, and Jill came to stay overnight too. It was also great to see Richard, Claire, Madi, Juju and Ellie again, and to meet baby Susie for the first time!
There have also been some other more exciting trips - a day out with Daddy to Dynamic Earth; a pyjama ride (getting all ready for bed, and thinking they were going to bed, when Mummy and Daddy put them in the car instead and went for a car trip across the Kincardine Bridge and home via Stirling - lots of fun!); going to Mia's second birthday party; not to mention a fantastic weekend away with some of Daddy's colleagues to Loch Maree, which is north-west of Inverness.
We stayed on the shores of Loch Maree at the Loch Maree Lodge, and our bedrooms had a fantastic view out over the loch to the mountains on the other side. We had plenty of time to relax, and went for some nice walks along the lochside, along the beach at Gairloch, and at Rogie Falls (where Auntie Elaine and Uncle Chris joined us). It was a really fun, relaxing break away - we all had a great time.
Unusually for us, and with the exception of Daddy, we've all been rather unwell at points this month. First, Mummy got tonsillitis, then Aidan's right eardrum perforated, and then Megan had a couple of nasty bouts of what seems to have been infected eczema (we think possibly exacerbated by a reaction to the different soap used at her playgroup sessions - no longer obviously!). At one point all three of us were on antibiotics at the same time! Thankfully we're all much better now :-).
Another fun time was on the bank holiday when Aidan requested we get the paddling pool out (it was the first time this year that is has been warm enough for this), and he and Megan had a wonderful time playing in it. Aidan also managed to create a water slide by angling the slide from their climbing frame into the paddling pool - tremendous fun!
