Aidan celebrated his eight month birthday today. He's had an exciting few weeks - he can now crawl properly using his hands and knees, but for the most part still gets around by a combination of this and commando crawling! He's really enjoying exploring his environment and has now made excursions from his playmat into the kitchen and out to the front door! His two lower front teeth have also finally made an appearance. This process has caused him some distress, and he's suffered from some high temperatures, had a touch of gastroenteritis and a mild eye infection to top it all off. He's much happier now, but he's still off his solids and has increased his milk feeds again. This has the knock-on effect that he's back to waking three times a night for a feed, so poor Mummy isn't get much sleep! But our most favourite development is that he's recently become very cuddly and has started actively giving us cuddles! This is one of the first times he's started to express that he quite likes us too!!

Aidan's sense of balance has improved in leaps and bounds. At crèche this morning he was playing on the seesaw (one of his favourite toys). A couple of weeks ago he was very wobbly and would overbalance if he wasn't held, but today he sat quite steadily, holding on to the handle for quite some time. He managed this even when he was being rocked (his legs aren't quite long enough to rock himself yet!). This improved sense of balance also means he is standing much more steadily and will often walk (with Mummy or Daddy holding both his hands) for seven or eight steps. He pulls himself up to standing in the bath, and is just starting to 'cruise' too. He loves being on his feet, so who knows, maybe he'll bypass crawling properly and go straight onto walking next?! Another major development is that he's worked out how to get from crawling to sitting (he's been able to do the reverse for a few weeks now). He's getting very mobile.
