Aidan’s Gallery: nine and a half months old

Aidan has now officially got the hang of 'cruising' - the name given to walking around the room hanging onto the furniture. He is very steady on his feet now and will confidently walk along the length of the coffee table, the toy chest or the sofa. He's also made a few attempts at standing unaided - he manages for 2-3 seconds and then falls over! One of Mummy's favourite moments in her week now is coming home from work and being met by Aidan crawling over to meet her, pulling himself up on her legs and reaching up for a cuddle!

We went to Scotland for Easter and Aidan had his first go on the swings! He loved this, and had no problem keeping the swing moving once we'd started him off. He also enjoyed going down the slide and playing on the bouncy bugs, but was less keen on the seesaw. His climbing skills are getting pretty impressive now - he even managed to climb up the ladder of a soft play area at a motorway service station en route to Scotland!

Another interesting event was when he recognised Mummy from a graduation photograph taken in 1995. He was playing the piano with Uncle Jonathan when he spotted the photo above the piano and started climbing towards it! When we said goodbye to Uncle Jonathan, Aidan waved goodbye to him. However, he hasn't waved since :-( .

Aidan really seems to enjoy music - he loves to clap along in time to music, or to play the piano: either his toy one (six month birthday present) or the real one at Grandma and Grandpa's.

On Saturday 17th we met up with some Web friends of Carolyn's. Aidan had a lot of fun, and inspired Aimee to start crawling. On Tuesday and Thursday, Aidan helped Keith and five of his work colleagues do some computer science research - they kindly met at our place because Keith was looking after Aidan. It went surprisingly well.

Climbing the ladder. Aidan managed to climb this ladder (once Daddy removed his slippery socks!), crawl through the tunnel at the top, and slide down the slide where Mummy was waiting to catch him! The other kids around were really impressed (and so were we!).
A budding pianist? Aidan has discovered that playing the piano is lots of fun, and spent much of our time in Scotland crawling to the piano and trying to play it, although he could only reach the keys by standing on his tippitoes! Once sitting on the stool he would try and play using both hands individually! He enjoyed watching as someone else played tunes too. A budding pianist?

My first ever swing! Aidan had his first ride on a swing over the Easter weekend. He really enjoyed the freedom, and managed to keep the swing going after we'd started him off (what impressive tummy muscles!).
For our Easter trip to Scotland, I got a lovely new forward-facing car seat! It's great - I can see everything that's going on, I can watch Mummy and Daddy in the child-view mirror, and I can relax in any of four different positions with my arms comfortably on the armrests. Luxury! My new car seat.

Wreaking havoc amongst the videos and entertainment system. This is one of my favourite pastimes (there's an extra challenge to the VCR now - notice the video lock!). Wreaking havoc.
