Aidan has now officially got the hang of 'cruising' - the name given to walking around the room hanging onto the furniture. He is very steady on his feet now and will confidently walk along the length of the coffee table, the toy chest or the sofa. He's also made a few attempts at standing unaided - he manages for 2-3 seconds and then falls over! One of Mummy's favourite moments in her week now is coming home from work and being met by Aidan crawling over to meet her, pulling himself up on her legs and reaching up for a cuddle!
We went to Scotland for Easter and Aidan had his first go on the swings! He loved this, and had no problem keeping the swing moving once we'd started him off. He also enjoyed going down the slide and playing on the bouncy bugs, but was less keen on the seesaw. His climbing skills are getting pretty impressive now - he even managed to climb up the ladder of a soft play area at a motorway service station en route to Scotland!
Another interesting event was when he recognised Mummy from a
graduation photograph taken in 1995. He was playing the piano with
Uncle Jonathan when he spotted the photo above the piano and started
climbing towards it!
When we said goodbye to Uncle Jonathan, Aidan waved goodbye to him.
However, he hasn't waved since :-( .
Aidan really seems to enjoy music - he loves to clap along in time to music, or to play the piano: either his toy one (six month birthday present) or the real one at Grandma and Grandpa's.
On Saturday 17th we met up with some Web friends of Carolyn's. Aidan had a lot of fun, and inspired Aimee to start crawling. On Tuesday and Thursday, Aidan helped Keith and five of his work colleagues do some computer science research - they kindly met at our place because Keith was looking after Aidan. It went surprisingly well.
