Merry Christmas, everyone! The kids have been having a fantastic time making cards, stringing lights and decorations, and yesterday we even had snow! We hope you're all having a great time too.

Aidan's five years eleven months and extra page are up, with photos of our trip visiting friends and seeing the sights around the North Island of New Zealand back in May/June. We're getting there! Also a few new photos of friends and family. Enjoy!

12 September 2009:

Aidan is very much enjoying being back at school, and we've enjoyed a trip to Montrose and some late summer sunshine.

26 August 2009:

After a long but uneventful flight we made it back to Scotland in time for a week of beautiful weather! That was a month ago - now we're back into the thick of things, and Aidan is back at school in Scotland, now in Primary 2!

7 July 2009: Happy Birthday Aidan! Aidan is six years old today! He had an "Explorers" birthday party with his friends from school, and a family trip to Butterfly Creek followed by dinner at a Chinese restaurant today. He had a great time and got lots of presents.

6 July 2009: Aidan has been having a great time in New Zealand over the last six months. He's now nearly 6, and he's loved seeing the sights, meeting family, going to school in New Zealand, and making new friends.

9 August: Aidan is five! Happy Birthday Aidan! It's been an action-packed month, with trips and parties and the start of the summer holidays.

Aidan's five years page is up, with an extra page to cope with everything he did. Also the usual firsts, progress, friends and places pages.

8 June: Woohoo! Aidan's pages are now fully up-to-date! We're getting ready to go on holiday to Aviemore, and Aidan is very excited - he even packed his own case!

Aidan's four years ten months and four years eleven months pages have been updated. At last!

6 June: Aidan has fully recovered now, and has been back at nursery school again this week. It's been a busy week, with Aidan taking an especial interest in baking! We've made "Sweethearts" (almondy sweeties) which Aidan didn't really like, and chocolate truffles, which he loved. His next project is Shining Star biscuits...

Getting steadily closer towards our goal (namely an up-to-date website by the end of this week...) we bring you two further gallery pages, Aidan's four years eight months page and his four years nine months page, and a new picture on his friends page (also stats).

28 May: Aidan picked up a nasty virus at nursery school last week, and was very poorly for several days with severe stomach pains. It's taken him the better part of the week to recover, but he should be back at school tomorrow!

Despite the lack of sleep and many (many) loads of laundry generated by the last week, we are proud to bring to you Aidan's four years seven months page, an updated artwork page, and a new picture on his family page.

21 May: Aidan is now recovering well from his grommets operation - it's made a significant difference to him already. In the spirit of trying to get things up-to-date as quickly as possible, we now have not just one, but two gallery pages for your enjoyment - both his four years five months page and his four years six months page are now up.

13 May: Aidan's grommets operation was postponed, so it's now later this week. He's enjoying planting things. His four years four months page is now up, and his family page has been updated.

21 April: Aidan is back at nursery again after the Easter break. His grommets operation is later this week. His four years three months page is now up.

14 April: Aidan is now 4¾. He can write his name, and spends lots of time drawing, painting, and constructing things out of cardboard and clingfilm.

His four years two months page is now up. We've also added a new feature to the site: for a month-by-month view of Aidan growing up, see his birthday galleries: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th.

23 October: Aidan is now 4¼, and very much enjoying nursery school!

7 August: The missing photos are here: three years ten months, three years eleven months, four years old pages, with updates to the Andrews page, and firsts and progress. Several new photos have been posted to friends and family pages, and those big pages have been split into several smaller ones.

21 July: Aidan is now four years old! He had a lovely birthday outing and party, and he loved his aeroplane birthday cake.

His three years nine months page is now available, with further installments to follow soon. Updates too to stats, places, and friends. His NZ blog is linked from the scrapbook.

13 June: Our NZ trip blog is finally complete! Even though it's on Megan's website, we shared it and there are lots of pictures of me as well as Megan!

11 April: Megan has posted the first entry in our blog, Megan and Aidan's Travels.

5 April: Aidan is nearly 3¾, and very much looking forward to his imminent trip to New Zealand! It's over three years since we were last there, and it will be very good to be going back.

Aidan is very happy at the moment, because his ears don't hurt any more. He's had grommets put in, after having seven eardrum perforations in three months(!). He's also enjoying the sunshine, and getting outside to play again.

His three years six, seven, and eight months pages are now up. He also has a new Andrews page which should be self-explanatory, along with updates to his friends, family, and places pages. Enjoy!

26 February: Aidan is now over three and a half. He's getting into crafts, playing well with other children, loving going for walks (despite the cold and wet), and getting into real electronics as well as pretend.

4 December: Aidan is now nearly three and a half.

After a long delay, it's a bumper update this time: we have no less than four gallery pages for your viewing pleasure: three years one month, three years two months, three years three months, and three years four months. There are also updates to his places, firsts, and progress pages, and new photos added to friends and family. Don't read them all at once!

17 October: Aidan is now three and a quarter, and he's enjoying being back at playgroup and TumbleTots after the summer. He's now old enough that Mummy doesn't go into TumbleTots with him, and he's started Sunday School (rather than crèche). We've updated the website with his birthday pictures at last.

16 July: Happy Birthday! Aidan is three! He had a great party, and he's enjoying all his presents - and the lovely sunshine.

16 June: Aidan is now two years and eleven months old! We've just been on a great holiday in Aviemore. We've also had a family encounter with chicken pox - both Aidan and Megan have now had it, and it's not been much fun. Thankfully they're over it now, and we can get back to updating the website!

We've added his new two years nine months page - hopefully two pages more are to follow. We've also updated his family, friends, places, statistics, firsts, and progress pages.

8 April: Aidan is now two and three quarters! We've recently been on a trip to Cambridge to visit old friends, and Aidan had a lovely time. He's also been to Luss. He can be very cute with his sister. He's beginning to use "I" and "my" correctly. And he's overcome a bizarre fear of fluff.

23 February: Aidan is now two years seven months old. He's well settled into playgroup now. He's had lots of visitors and lots of fun. Aidan loves Megan, and really enjoys playing with her, but having to share Mummy and Daddy with her is not always easy.

2 February: Aidan is now two and a half! He's had a busy Christmas, and a very energetic January - tiring out his parents with his running around, chattering, and make-believe playing! He and Megan are getting on very well.

29 December: Merry Christmas and a happy New Year! Aidan is now two years five and a half months old, and Santa was very good to him this year! He's loving the new house, he's well into toilet-training, and he's had lots of visitors.

13 November: Aidan is now two years four months old. He has a little sister, and loves her very much. He's had lots of visitors this month, and has enjoyed lots of trips out. He's also been doing a lot of singing.

9 October: Aidan is now two and a quarter years old! The big news is that we've moved into our new house in Scotland at last!

14 August: Aidan is now 25 months old! He's learned lots of new words, he's been to some fun places, and he continues to be full of boundless energy and creativity.

26 July: Aidan is now two years old! He's finding everything very exciting at the moment - to the point where he can't get to sleep until midnight! He had a great party with lots of friends, and got a climbing frame with a big slide. Two big changes are coming up - we're finally moving to Scotland in early September, and Aidan is to have a baby sister or brother in early October! Stay tuned...

7 June: Aidan is twenty-three months old today! He's made several trips to Scotland, where Mummy and Daddy have been house-hunting (hence the delay in updating these pages). His attention span has increased, which has made a big difference both to his playing and his speaking. He's asserting his independence, driving off on his toy car and climbing out of his cot. He's lots of fun!

New feature: a blue "i" now appears in the corner of each image; if you move the mouse over it you can see some information about the photo, including the date it was taken. Please let me know if you have any problems with this, as I haven't tested it very thoroughly as yet.

1 May: Aidan is now nearly twenty-two months! He's gained two more teeth, he's been to the Peak District, and he's learning to put words together into mini-sentences. He is very cute, and loves every moment of every day.

7 March: Aidan is one and two-thirds today! He made Mummy very happy on Mothers' Day, he's allowed to go swimming again (yay!), he got to play in the snow, and he can count to three!

27 February: Aidan is now over nineteen months old. He's learning new words every day - he's become quite a chatterbox! He will now walk with enough purpose to make it all the way to the swings without being carried. He's also been on a few more trips. See his nineteen month page to see what else he's been up to, and (at last) you too can play with Aidan's favourite toy!

We've been catching up, so look out for changes to height, firsts, development, places visited, and even (rather belatedly) his 36-week scan. And we've added a bunch of family and friends pictures (and here) - sorry for the delay! Enjoy!

16 January: Aidan is now eighteen months old. He has had a very exciting Christmas seeing both sets of grandparents, and his language continues to develop rapidly. He's a lot of fun at the moment, but he's also discovered tantrums and the "terrible twos" earlier than Mummy and Daddy had hoped!

Check out his eighteen month page, his new teeth, his progress page, and the places he's been. His height and weight have also been updated, although he hasn't changed much - we think he's getting ready for a big growth spurt.

23 December: Aidan is now seventeen and a half months old. He has many new words, and is a happy, excited, and very active little boy! He's looking forward to Christmas, and is already enjoying all the extra attention his family are giving him over the break.

We've updated his seventeen months page(s), and his tooth chart now that he has 16 teeth! His height, weight, progress, and firsts have also been updated.

14 November: Aidan is now sixteen months old. He's become an excellent climber, he's started a music and movement class, he has his first molars, and has a lot of new words. Creatively he's working on his painting and baking skills. See his sixteen month gallery page for all the new pictures (including a movie clip).

21 October: Aidan is now fifteen and a half months old! He's celebrating by completely revamping his website - we hope you like it! The last month has been very busy and exciting, and Aidan has been learning and enjoying new things almost every day. He's going to playgroup, swimming, or Tumbletots every day, has fifteen English words, and four new teeth!

Check out his fifteen month gallery page, his new teeth, updated height and weight, and in his scrapbook, a new page for his toys. Many of the other pages have been moved around, and some new ones have appeared - happy exploring!

7 September: Aidan is fourteen months old today! He is now a real toddler, going everywhere and getting into everything. He's beginning to use gestures to show what he wants, finding and waving a nappy or his snack box. He's sleeping better, and is cuter than ever! (not that we're biased...)

Aidan has a new 14 months gallery page. His stats have been updated, and we've fixed a minor issue with the line on the weight graph. New entries also on firsts, progress, and places.

25 August: Aidan is now thirteen and a half months old and he can walk!!! He started on July 29, and is now pretty good at it! We've had a busy time moving everything further up out of his newly-extended reach. He's also been to London, been to a big birthday bash for him and ten other one-year-olds, visited more friends, and has drawn his very first picture.

We have two new gallery pages: 13 months as promised last time, and 13½ months. He has no new teeth, but we have updated his weight chart. Aidan has also achieved more firsts, and progress, and been to more places. Two new friends pictures have been added.

From now on we will be updating the page regularly once a month, with more updates if anything more exciting than usual happens. To make sure you don't miss an update, please put your email address on our list and you'll receive a brief email each time.

9 August: Aidan is now thirteen months old. It's been a very exciting month: being on holiday, celebrating Aidan's birthday with family and friends on three separate occasions (friends on 3rd July, grown-ups on 7th July, family in the Lake District on 10th July - lucky boy!), Daddy's 30th birthday, and starting with a new childminder. He's also been practising standing and walking, which is very exciting for him! And another tooth has arrived.

7 July: Happy First Birthday Aidan! Aidan is one year old today. He's been exploring the Outside, grinning lots (revealing a new tooth), spending lots of time with friends, and celebrating his very first birthday ever.

Here we're celebrating by revamping and extending the website. We have put together a special First Birthday Gallery with some of our favourite pictures from the last year, we've added lists of firsts, progress, and places Aidan has been (all in the scrapbook), and Keith has finally put something up in the birth story section.

We haven't forgotten the last few weeks, either: the one year old gallery page is up, and the tooth chart has been updated.

And we've tidied up and reorganised many pages, hopefully making them easier to read and navigate. Enjoy, and happy birthday Aidan!

23 June: Aidan is eleven and a half months old now. He has had a very exciting few weeks, with family and friends visiting, and going to visit other family and friends. He has really enjoyed all the social activity. He babbles a lot of the time now, although mostly not in English. His major achievement recently is taking his first unassisted steps!

15 June: Aidan is just over 11 months old now. He has had a busy couple of weeks going up and down the stairs, having learned how to do this safely. His vocabulary is expanding, and he is starting to use "mama" and "dada" discriminately. See his eleven months gallery page for more details.

2 June: Aidan is nearly 11 months old now. He has spent a lot of time learning how to put things into things - smaller things fit into bigger things, but not the other way around. He's enjoying some new toys, he's got more teeth, and he passed his "eight"-month health and development check.

Aidan turned 10 months yesterday. He continues to amaze us with his rapidly-increasing ability to walk, talk, play, and explore. Check out his ten months gallery page for more. His stats have also been updated.

Aidan is now over nine and a half months old. He is confidently cruising (walking around the room by holding on to furniture) and beginning to experiment with standing on his own. He upgraded to a bigger car seat for our recent trip to Scotland, and he's working on his music and his computer science. See his nine and a half months gallery page.

His friends and family page has also been updated, and we hope to update his weight and height very soon.

18 April: Aidan is now nearly nine and a half months old. He is beginning to "cruise" (walk around the room by holding on to furniture), and with his four teeth he's enjoying biscuits, cheese, and other finger foods. See his nine months gallery page.

1 April: Aidan is now eight and a half months old. His crawling skills are continuing to improve, and he can climb stairs with a bit of help. See his new eight and a half months gallery page.

Aidan now has a tooth chart in his scrapbook, which will be updated by the tooth fairy when they arrive. His weight graph and chart have also been updated, and he has some new friends.

7 March: Aidan is now eight months old (35 weeks tomorrow). He is getting very mobile, and has cut two teeth. See his eight months gallery page.

16 February: Aidan is now 32 weeks old. He's been enjoying being in a big bath and he's developed an interesting technique for getting around - for a description see the thirty-two week gallery page!

7 February: We've now added the missing twenty-four and twenty-six week gallery pages. Enjoy!

2 February: Aidan is now 30 weeks old. He's sitting unaided, standing holding onto his toy chest, getting into crawling position, and generally getting around the lounge floor. We're urgently looking at Aidan-proofing!

The latest photos are available on the thirty weeks page, and the stats have been updated.

22 January: Aidan is now 28 weeks old, having celebrated his six month birthday on 7 January. Lots of things are new: he's standing up, he's closer to crawling, he's moved into his own room, and he's enjoying lots of new foods. Carolyn went back to work on the 6th for two days per week, which has been a big change for Aidan. Keith looks after him one day, and the other he has a childminder.

We've decided to put up the latest photos first, so you can see how good looking Aidan is just now: the twenty-eight weeks page has been added. As usual, we have also updated the stats page. Look out for the twenty-four and twenty-six week gallery pages soon, and updates to the friends and family pages too.

1 January 2004: Happy New Year! Two new gallery pages have been added: twenty-one weeks and twenty-two weeks.

30 December: Aidan is now 25 weeks old, and we've been back in the UK for exactly three weeks. We had a wonderful time in New Zealand, as you will have seen from Aidan's diary which he kept up even though we didn't update the front page (sorry!). We're up in Scotland for Christmas and New Year, and Aidan is very much enjoying spending time with his relatives and friends up here. Aidan is now on "solid" foods - puréed apple, sweet potato, and baby rice - which he enjoys very much, and eats very messily.

Unfortunately, we all found it quite difficult adjusting to UK time (13 hours different from NZ), and it was especially hard for Aidan since he didn't understand what was happening. With that and the temperature difference (25°C versus 5°C), we all came down with colds soon after we returned, and Aidan still has a nasty cough.

Catching up, Aidan has completed his diary, and we have added the nineteen weeks and twenty weeks gallery pages, covering as far as our first week in Auckland. The stats have also been updated, and the family and friends pages now include many people Aidan met in New Zealand. More coming soon - Enjoy!

25 November: Aidan is now 20 weeks old, and we're in Wanganui, New Zealand, visiting (Great-)Gran, (Great-)Auntie Elspeth and (Great-)Uncle David. Aidan has charmed everyone he's met so far. On Friday (21st) he decided he was tired of sleeping on his back, and rolled himself over onto his tummy for his morning nap. On Saturday he went for his first hike in the bush, as a practice run for the Pinnacles.

Aidan has been doing a great job keeping up his diary, so keep checking for new entries! We've now added the photos of Aidan in a kilt at Auntie Elaine and Uncle Chris's wedding, on the seventeen weeks page.

20 November: Aidan is now 19 weeks old (4.5 months). We're in New Zealand, visiting Keith's parents -- read his diary! Aidan coped very well with the journey (especially the second leg, with Air New Zealand, who gave him a lovely cot on the plane). He can roll over both ways (back to front and front to back), and he's working very hard at learning to crawl -- he can both push up on his arms and get his knees up, but just not at the same time. It probably won't be long now. We've also discovered he loves swimming -- two days ago he 'swam' four lengths of the toddler's pool, with us holding him while he kicked like crazy. On the down side, he's discovered that making loud screaming noises is lots of fun, and does it whenever he has the opportunity :-(. It's been great meeting the grandparents, and he has a busy schedule ahead, of meeting lots of NZ family and friends.

We haven't yet managed to add the new photos to the site (in particular, the photos we took of Aidan in a kilt at Auntie Elaine and Uncle Chris's wedding), but we have reorganised the gallery pages a bit: there's now both a gallery and a scrapbook. The scrapbook includes his New Zealand diary. In addition, Carolyn's birth story is up at last! And we've tidied up the site navigation a lot -- hope you like it! Of course, the stats page has been updated as usual.

28 October: Aidan is now just over sixteen weeks old. He's learned to roll over, he's moved out of his Moses basket and into a proper cot, and he's nearly 17 pounds (7.7kg). He's sleeping from 8.30pm to 5am, and then 5.15am until about 7am; he also has a couple of naps during the day - often a short one in the morning and a longer one in the afternoon. He's having an awful lot of fun! Setting the clocks back disturbed him a little, but it's probably good practice for the thirteen-hour difference with New Zealand!

There is now a gallery page for fifteen weeks, which includes a movie of Aidan rolling over; we have decided from now on to add a new page every two weeks (rather than weekly). Sorry the updates are often a little bit late - it's not always easy to find the time with Aidan around. Statistics have also been updated.

5 October: Aidan is now nearly thirteen weeks old, and he's grown out of his 0-3 month clothes. It's been a quieter week than last week, when he flew in an aeroplane for the first time, and went swimming for the first time - both sadly away from his Daddy, at Auntie Elaine's hen weekend.

We have also filled in the missing three weeks of Aidan during the house move: seven, eight, and nine weeks.

23 September: Aidan is now eleven weeks old, and new pictures are posted in the gallery. He's giggling, grabbing, and even managing a commando crawl. And he's steadily gaining weight. Still being a wonderfully good boy and sleeping most of the night.

15 September: Finally the house is sufficiently in order that we can update the website. Aidan is now ten weeks old!, and new pictures are posted in the gallery. (We'll fill in photos from the weeks in between later). He remains a little above the 75th percentile on the weight chart (see stats). He's sleeping eight hours, and has properly discovered his thumb!

4 September: Sorry that the site has not been updated in over two weeks! We've been busy moving house, and have spent some time in Scotland while waiting for our new place to be ready. We are now in our new place, and site updates should follow shortly. Brief notes: Aidan is now eight and a half weeks old, and is sleeping for six hours solid overnight (wonderful!). He met lots of people up in Scotland and had a great time. He can make a noise that sounds a little bit like "hello" when we say hello to him! More later.

18 August: Aidan is now six weeks old. The six weeks page has been added to the gallery, a new picture has been added to the family and friends page, and the stats page has been updated too.

15 August: Aidan is now five and a half weeks old. He's now smiling (and even laughing), and generally beginning to interact more. The five weeks page has more news and more pictures. The stats page has been updated, and now includes a graph of Aidan's progress (he's over 12lb now!).

There's been plenty of excitement - Aidan has started smiling (last week!), Carolyn got mastitis and a temperature of 38.9degC (102degF) but is now much better, the temperature in Cambridge has been even more stupidly hot than it was the week Aidan was born (weather this month, 38.3degC last Wednesday, 36.7degC on Sunday), and Aidan continues to get bigger, stronger, and more fascinated by the world.

New gallery page: four weeks (we're running behind, and the five week page is not done yet - watch this space). Also two new people have been added to the family and friends page, and the stats have been updated.

By the way: our intent is to update the site once a week, so do keep checking back!

29 July: Aidan is now three weeks old. He has had a number of visitors, and he's growing and developing at a great rate. Keith has started to share in the feeding, which gives Carolyn a break. Two new gallery pages: family and friends and three weeks .

21 July: Aidan is now two weeks old. He was registered on Friday, so he's now legal, and he continues to grow and to be more alert and better sleeping. More news and more photos are in the gallery at two weeks; the stats page has been updated as well.

19 July: Added a bunch of pictures from this week -- Aidan at home -- at one week and ten days. We're settling slowly into a routine of sorts, and enjoying getting to know each other.

17 July: Pictures from the week in hospital are now at three days old. The website has also been reorganised a bit, as you can see: news and statistics pages have been added.

14 July: Yay! Aidan and Carolyn arrived home at last at 6.10pm. We're all very happy to be home.

We're in the process of adding more info to the gallery pages; see One Week for now. In future, news will go on this page and at the top of the gallery pages, and the front page will just have a pointer to the latest info. Please continue to check back regularly!

13 July: All the tests have come back negative, but Aidan still has to finish the course of antibiotics. Barring anything going wrong, we will be going home on Monday (tomorrow! yay!).

10 July: Carolyn and Aidan had hoped to be out on Wednesday morning, but there is a possibility Aidan has a bacterial infection, so they will be kept in until Friday afternoon at the earliest, or possibly until Sunday, while Aidan has a precautionary course of IV antibiotics. Carolyn's bleeding has stopped and she's up and active again. Aidan is doing absolutely fine and continues to be adorable - his life consists of sleeping, eating, and wondering at the world, while his dad's life consists of rushing to and from the hospital, cuddling him, and changing nappies, and his mum's life consists of sleeping, feeding, and looking forward to being home.

7 July: Aidan was born at 8:17pm on Monday 7 July, 2003, at home, after four hours of very hard work by Carolyn (and lots of encouragement and support from Keith). He weighed 3.90kg (8lb 9oz) at birth, and was 57cm (22 in) long. Baby, mother, and father are all well, although Carolyn had to go into hospital immediately after the birth because of bleeding.
