Happy 1st Birthday Megan!

Megan is now one year old!! Happy 1st Birthday Megan!!!

It's been a very busy fortnight, with coffee and lunches with various friends, swimming, Gymbabes, Soundstart and church/creche, not to mention a trip into Edinburgh on the train to meet Daddy after work, do some shopping and have a picnic tea in Princes Mall! We also saw Great-Auntie Jeanne, Great-Uncle Jeff and Philip as they were passing through the area.

The fortnight didn't begin too well though with Megan fighting a cold, which caused her to lose her voice for a while and then developed into another ear infection. Another course of antibiotics did the trick and she recovered very quickly after that.

After she was back to health again, Megan had her first ever swimming lesson, which she enjoyed. She's loved going swimming whenever we've take her before, so we felt it was time to take her for more formal lessons. She did very well, and didn't even mind being splashed, or having water dribbled over her head (preparation for going under water).

On Saturday 7th October, Megan had her first birthday party! She had several of her little friends (and their parents) around to play for a couple of hours, and had a fantastic time. Megan says thank you very much for coming to everyone who came!

She obviously felt very relaxed and happy because she walked on her own for the first time. The cheers and applause she got from everyone watching her encouraged her to repeat the feat twice more during the party! She's been taking unassisted steps for the last few weeks as she's "cruised" from one piece of furniture to another, but only when she was concentrating on something else. As soon as she realised what she was doing, she stopped. So her birthday party was the first time she had the confidence to take purposeful steps on her own! Well done Megan!!

The day before her birthday, Megan was playing at Grandma and Grandpa's house and she decided to prove that her Gymbabes lessons have been worthwhile - she crawled downstairs backwards (the safest way) for the first time!

Megan had a lovely day celebrating her first birthday. Auntie Elaine and Uncle Chris were able to come down to help her celebrate, and she had a great time! We went to a soft play in the morning and stayed there for lunch. Then in the evening, we went over to Grandma and Grandpa's house for dinner and cake. Megan got lots of lovely presents and cards and would like to say thank you very much to everyone!

And, as if all these "firsts" wasn't enough for one month, Megan cut her first molar on her first birthday!

How did I manage this? Instead of eating her dinner, Megan decides to try getting undressed instead!

Playing with her balloon. Megan loves playing with helium-filled balloons, and this one kept her amused for ages!

Peeping out the window. Megan loves to climb up on the toy box and look out of the window, watching the world go by.

On her new quad bike. This little ride-on has a parent handle, and a safety bar, meaning we can take Megan down to the park riding on this, rather than in her pushchair. She loves it!
