Megan is now one and three-quarters! She's loving Tumbletots at the moment, and beginning to insist on walking part of the way when we go to Muiravonside. She's been a little unwell this month though, with an ear infection early on, which co-incided with the appearance of her second second molar (lower right), and then she came down with the bug that Aidan had. Thankfully her temperature didn't ever go frighteningly high, but she did have a touch of conjunctivitis just to complicate matters. Neither illness lasted long however, and she was right as rain pretty quickly.
We had a lovely day visiting Grandma and Grandpa in Luss for their seaplane expedition, and it was great to see Auntie Elaine and Uncle Chris when they popped in for a brief overnight stay. It was also lots of fun visiting Jill and Andrew at their place in Edinburgh.
Megan was allowed to tag along to Aidan's first Sunday School trip and had a wonderful time at the soft play - she was the youngest there by some way, but seriously impressed everyone else with her climbing skills! She was awestruck by all the people, floats and bands when we went to the Linlithgow Riding of the Marches, and she loved riding on Grandpa'a shoulders as they marched round Linlithgow Cross at the 5pm procession. She was shattered by the end of the day though!
Megan has been showing definite interest in potty-training this month. One particularly amusing incident occurred while I was cooking the children's dinner in the kitchen. All of a sudden I heard water running and went upstairs discover Megan running the bath. She proceeded to strip off and then, obviously copying Aidan, she lifted the toilet seat and tried to lean into it to do the toilet! For a while after this, she would take her nappy off when she needed to wee or poo... but unfortunately didn't quite cotton on to the fact that if the nappy is off she needs to sit on the potty...!! Later in the month, she actually did successfully use the potty for the first time, but hasn't shown much interest in following this up. She does know when she's been though as she will immediately take her nappy off and either go and get a clean one, or come and tell us.
In other "copying-Aidan" news (and to change the subject on to a more pleasant one!), Megan had her first attempt at making fairy cakes this month - and very nice they were too (not that she was interested in actually eating them herself, but Aidan enjoyed them... as did Mummy and Daddy!).
Megan has finally decided to climb out of her cot for the first time! After she did so, we lowered the cot side, and then kept putting her back into her cot each time she appeared out of it. She seems to have go the message, at least for the time being, that just because she can climb out of her cot, doesn't mean that she should.
She is still practicing changing her clothes - one morning recently she discovered a pile of dirty laundry waiting to go into the machine, so she decided to get "dressed". She took off her pyjamas, and put her vest on and then her pyjama top back on (inside out). She then took off her nappy, put on a pair of Aidan's boxer shorts (round her waist), and then her pyjama bottoms. To complete the outfit, she put on one of her socks, and one of Aidan's! One hopes her dress sense will improve in time!
Her vocabularly is beginning to expand now, and she will often attempt to repeat words back to us. Her favourite book is called "Things that Move", and she loves to go through this book practising saying "car", "digger", "tractor", and other similar words. It's good to hear her practising her speech.
