Megan is now two years and eight months old! For once we've had a fairly quiet month, although not for the right reasons - both Aidan and Megan came down with a particularly nasty virus which was doing the rounds at Aidan's nursery.
First Aidan, and five days later Megan, started having severe stomach pains and sickness - Aidan's sickness was occasional, whereas Megan's was really quite severe. It was a very strange virus too in that the symptoms would show up, go away and then, just as you thought things were on the mend, the symptoms would reappear. It took both children over one week to properly shake it off. They are both well again now!
In terms of other activities, there's not much to report given that we were pretty much house-bound for twelve days. Mummy, Aidan and Megan are all very grateful to Daddy (who worked from home on several occasions) and Grandma (who frequently cuddled whichever child was most sick to allow Mummy to get some much needed things done) and Grandpa (who provided moral support, stand-in childcare at short notice and the occasional glass of wine (to Mummy - not the children!), and Gungle (whose presence always cheered both children up). Thank you all!
We have managed to do some baking - the usual fairy cakes (which the children love to ice and decorate as well as bake), plus some chocolate truffles, some millionaire shortbread, and some "sweethearts" (almondy sweeties)! We've watched some DVD's - the favourite being a version of Little Red Riding Hood - I've lost count of the number of times we watched this!
The children have loved playing in the garden, especially when Adam, Alasdair and Abbie were all around to play too. They had a lot of fun building a space rocket in the play shed in Alasdair and Abbie's back garden too. We've had a couple of visits to the Garden Centre, a trip to IKEA, where the children enjoy playing in the créche (a.k.a. the ballroom) (as Mummy and Daddy are thinking about buying a new kitchen) and a wander around the Linlithgow Farmers' Market.
At the end of May, we went on the annual Sunday School trip, this year to Auchingarrich Wildlife centre. We've never been there before, so we all had lots of fun exploring a new place. Megan also had a lovely day out with Grandma, Grandpa and Auntie Jeanne and Uncle Jeff (-Who Are Great!) as they met in Coldstream (in the Scottish Borders) for lunch to celebrate Uncle Jeff's birthday.
Megan's speech is coming along in leaps and bounds, with her vocabulary expanding dramatically and her sentence construction really improving. It's good to hear her begin to talk properly, but I have a feeling that she's going to be rivalling Aidan for air time in the very near future and any hopes of the occasional quiet car journey have now faded!

In the new tent - well, before the wings were properly erected and the fly sheet went on... As you can see the garden isn't really big enough for the tent, with the added amusement of the fairly steep slope down to the play area! Still, we got the idea of how to put it up! |

"I'm running!" Movie: 2.4MB, 1:08. Megan and Aidan both love the fact that they can run circuits at Grandma and Grandpa's house, but no one does it quite like Megan! |
