Megan is now two and three-quarter years old! The school holidays started at the end of June so we've been very busy and Megan's been to several birthday parties, a teddy bear's picnic, and a couple of end-of-term parties.
We've been very impressed with Megan this month - we've challenged her on several occasions and she has not only risen to the occasion, but surpassed our expectations! On our walk down through the tundra and down into the forest while we were in the Cairngorms, she was a complete trooper - nothing fazed her, despite the fact she was pushing her way through heather that was pretty much the same height she was. She just got on with it! On another occasion, we were scrambling over rocks at the Falls of Dochart at Killin, and Megan was very good at selecting her path across the rocks - carefully choosing a path that she knew she was capable of, and not just blindly attempting to go the way we (with our longer legs) went.
Megan's speech has recently improved dramatically and she's speaking in sentences now. "I been having lots of fun Daddy!" is one that really struck us. She likes having lots of fun!
We're really noticing Megan's developing sense of humour. She thinks it's hilarious to sit on Grandpa's seat when he leaves it, and then even more fun if he pretends to sit on top of her when he comes back. Also, she's a very observant little girl, and seems to have an appreciation for beauty - the light was very special over the Ochils as we drove home recently, and the hills were bathed in a beautiful golden light from the setting sun. Megan (who notices every aeroplane that passes overhead) spotted this loveliness and said "Look mummy, the sky is yellow"...

On her scooter. Megan received a new scooter when we went to Aviemore, and she had lots of fun learning to scoot. |

Model winch at Haig Pit Coal Mining Museum, Whitehaven. Megan was intrigued by the various models, and impressed by the huge cable reel at the top of the massive lift down into the pit. |
