Megan’s Gallery: three years four months old

Megan is now three years and four months old! We've had a super busy couple of months, with Christmas parties, Christmas holidays, Christmas and New Year, and finally the preparations for the Big Move to New Zealand, and the move itself!

We had a fairly quiet Christmas this year, partly because the Spencers were unable to come owing to work commitments, but New Year's Day was lots of fun as the Chapmans and their family joined us for dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's house in the afternoon. The kids had a great time playing and watching DVDs, and then after dinner we let off some fireworks and released some wish lanterns which everyone was very impressed by!

We got out a fair bit over the festive period, and managed to catch up with quite a few people including David, Neil and his girlfriend, and an old uni friend of Mummy's - Kieron and his lovely wife Hannah and their little girl, Ella. We took the kids to see the Teletubby Horn at Polkemmet Country Park (it isn't really called that of course, but it looks one!) - they thought it was great fun! And Grandma and I took the kids for our annual lunch with Auntie Marjory - normally we meet at Loch Lomond, but this time we went a bit further afield and met her in Lochgilphead! It was a cold day, but beautiful and the drive was glorious - we all had a lovely day out. One afternoon we had Ruth and her girls (Rebekah, Bethany and Katie) around, while they were up from England.

Megan has loved going to her ballet class this term, and had lots of fun showing off her dancing at the Parents' Day. Her swimming is also coming along well and she finally plucked up the courage to jump in! She still really loves Tumbletots, and Megan and I had several fun lunches after Tumbletots with Gillian and her little girl, Ruth.

Then came the sad farewells to family and friends, and the time finally arrived when we packed up the house, left it to the care of our tenant, and headed off to Glasgow Airport... bound first for Dubai (where a lovely complimentary hotel room made our eight-hour stopover much more pleasant), then to Singapore, then Brisbane and finally Auckland... In actual reality, we had a really good journey (breaking up the journey helped) and the kids held up really well. We were so proud of them both!

We spent the first couple of nights in New Zealand with Nan and Grandad, and spent the days enrolling Aidan in school, Megan in kindy, getting bank accounts, and finally moving into our own home a couple of days later!

Both kids love our new house. They spent their first morning up early before breakfast, sitting out in the back garden with their jammies on, drawing pictures of birds! Term restarted on the Monday for Aidan, and the Tuesday for Megan, and all of a sudden, ordinary life was beginning again, but on the other side of the world...
