Megan is now six months old! She's met some new (to her) friends and family this fortnight, had a go at some ceramic painting, invented a new game and had plenty more teething spells (although still no sign of teeth externally).
Megan had the unexpected pleasure of meeting Mummy's cousin Jill last week. Jill had to make a flying visit from Australia for a job interview in Edinburgh. As Megan didn't expect to meet Jill until after her first birthday, we were all over the moon! Megan got to spend lots of time with Jill, and Auntie Jeanne (who had also come to stay) during the three days of Jill's visit. The following weekend, she also saw Auntie Elaine and Uncle Chris, when they made an even more flying visit from Inverness - Megan stayed up late especially to see them that evening.
She also had a wonderful day meeting friends of Mummy and Daddy's - Arbory, James, and their children Aoife and Lorien, and Wendy (an old flatmate of Mummy's) and her husband Tony - in Glasgow, and going for a walk in the park at Rouken Glen. Later in the week Megan did some ceramic painting at Arbory's and the next day at the Ceramic Experience in Linlithgow - it was great to make presents, but Megan didn't really appreciate having her feet or hands made wet with the glaze.
Megan discovered a fun new game last week - if she threw her crinkly butterfly on the floor, Mummy would pick it up. So she played with it for thirty seconds or so, and then threw it back down on the floor again. This sequence was continued about ten times before she'd had enough - she clearly thought it was great fun!
She loves creating different sounds, and her favourite toys at the moment are her crinkly books (or butterflies, suns and even rustling a plastic bag with her feet [carefully supervised of course!]) and her musical keys. She still loves being sung to and listening to music.
Megan can stand up! Holding onto just our fingers, she's getting quite confident at it. She can't yet hold onto the coffee table, but we're going to try her with a prop that's easier to grip soon. She's very much enjoying her door bouncer and much prefers to sit up both in her bath and in her playgym. In fact, if we try to lie her down, she starts straining her neck in an attempt to sit up. She is happiest sitting in her play nest, or sitting on her playgym with a basket of toys to choose from.
