Megan’s Gallery: eight and a half months old

Megan is now nearly nine months old. It's been a quiet couple of weeks, after the excitment of our holiday, but there have been several significant events during it, between teething, crawling, eating and visiting!

Megan moved into Aidan's bedroom on Monday June 12 for the first time. It took a few days for them both to get used to sharing a room but they seem to love being together and are certainly practising keeping each other awake! The move probably wasn't helped by the appearance of Megan's eighth tooth, which also appeared on that first evening.

Megan is becoming very mobile now - she moves forward by getting up onto her feet and hands, and does a cross between bottom-shuffling and crawling. It is very cute to watch and is a slow, but effective, way of getting around. By the end of the fortnight, however, she demonstrated that she can also crawl in a more conventional manner and the house is no longer safe... (Now, where were those stairgates? :-) ) She is also becoming more confident in her walking, and can walk across the room using only her stride-to-ride for suport. And she has discovered another use for hands, other than for putting things into her mouth - clapping!

Megan came down with a cold during this week, and on Thursday June 22nd, Megan had her last ever breastfeed - thereafter she refused. As we were planning to start dropping feeds in the next few weeks, her cold-induced nursing strike seemed to be a good opportunity to stop breastfeeding altogether. The transition to bottle-feeding went very smoothly, and she has never asked for a breastfeed since that morning. Mummy feels a bit sad about it all (it all happened more suddenly than we'd originally planned), but Megan is very content with bottles and that is all that really matters.

Megan enjoyed going to her first ever Riding of the Marches, an old Linlithgow tradition which has become an annual town celebration. She seemed to enjoy watching the procession and listening to the bands, but was a little bemused by it all, and was exhausted by the end of the day!

Megan loved going to the Almond Valley Heritage Trust, and especially enjoyed watching the animals being bottle-fed - I think she could identify! We have also been to a couple of barbeques, and visited some friends and went to toddler group, where she could show off her new crawling skills!

First time in my new cot. I'm sharing a room with my big brother now, so I'm finally sleeping in my comfy new cot. It's great!
Bathtime with Aidan. I don't share my bath with Aidan every night, but it's usually great fun when I do! Here we are playing "Sharks"! Bathtime with Aidan.

At the Linlithgow Marches. Mummy, Grandma, Aidan and I went to watch Grandpa and Daddy in the procession as they marched along Linlithgow High Street. I found all the noise and colour a bit over-whelming at times, but it was fun to see Daddy and Grandpa dressed up in tweed jackets and deer-stalker caps!
A typical bedtime! It's lovely to see them having fun together, but it's not exactly conducive to sleep...! A typical bedtime!
